Springtime in East Bay, CA

Now that it's spring time, the hills up here are green, the sky is blue, and so I decided to put the top down on the TT and take a few drives around the countrysides. It has been beautiful out, I love having a convertible. It is so much fun, especially for taking in the scenery. I love the year round sunshine and warm weather out here in California. I am especially impressed by the hillsides here because where I come from in the midwest everything is flat. In California there are hills, mountains, and of course the beach. And it makes for some breathtaking landscapes.

I am fascinated by the hundreds of windmills here in the north bay area. When you drive up closer to them they are enormous. I found this great road where there are a ton of windmills that just tower over an entire town. One day, I hiked up a hill to see a panoramic view hundreds of windmills as far as I could see. The sun was setting and illuminated the silhouettes of the windmills. The hillsides out in the country where these are is a really peaceful drive as well.

I have seen a lot of animals out in the countrysides here. There is cattle everywhere, even in urban areas. I still can't get over seeing cows on the side of the road as I drive through town. There are many even by the church on the way to work every day. I have also seen a lot of sheep and horses. Another cool thing in the spring up here is the amount of full rainbows you see everywhere. You can even see the ends of the rainbows up close which is a cool experience.

There are also many farms and barns, which really make you feel like you are out in the country. It is fun to take a drive out in the country, but then also be able to drive into the city and experience all there is to do in the nightlife of a big city. It is really peaceful on drives out here. It's just awesome sometimes to get away from the fast paced city life and go out in the country where it's quiet and peaceful. And it's cool because it's not really far outside of the city. There are also some great views from the tops of mountains where you can see forever. I'm going to visit these next as well as get some more good shots of San Francisco.
